The barbaric 'WE'

Increasingly difficult it has become for me to start the blog to express myself on the ghastly incident which took the life of the girl who expressed to live on the deathbed. This incident has brought the entire nation to a standstill and made everyone to think alike on how to curb this menace. Once this  incident has come to the notice to the national media many such horrible incidents have started to come to the notice all over the country. Astonishing are the facts to digest where even kids/elderly woman are victims. There have been many suggestions from all the quarters of the society like increasing the number of judges, setting up of fast-track courts, bringing changes in the penal code, changing our patriarchal system of our society, bringing changes in the syllabus of schools etc..

How long it will take to implement these ideas?

But even if  these ideas/suggestions are implemented, would they achieve the desired goal??

Often people talk about bringing change in the mindset..Is it really possible?? I tried to think and suggest some but ..

Even from school days, aren't we taught how to think and behave...why don't they have any effect??

Or should such moral lessons be taught only from adolescent ages...

May be this is high time to copy some punishment ideas from Saudi to atleast intimidate. But even that may not be successful as such uncivilized perpetrators can always escape the law...and in the process of escaping such serious punishments, I am sure, corruption would still go unbounded..

Teenager Molestation

Molestation of a teenager girl in public, a horrible incident, made every civilized citizen to hang his/her head in shame. Perpetrators got emboldened with the presence of camera and kept dragging the girl in front of the camera so that the camera could get a good shot of this barbaric act. The fact that the local police took time to arrive to the place and arrest only a few, raises questions on the moral complicity of the police. The concerned police officers must be penalized on charges of dereliction of duty for the select arrest. Irresponsible statements, in the wrong time, like that of the state DGP that police are not ATM machines would only invite ire from the public. It has become a routine to issue eyewash statements by politicians post such incidents. To what extent such statements devoid of actions would placate the affected is matter of question.

Plagiarim....

As an alumnus (2008) of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and as an engineer who is intensely motivated to publish applicable & feasible results, this issue is certainly disappointing for me. Plagiarism is a menace for scientific research and must be understood in full to curb it. As pointed in the editorial, Mr. Rao and Mr. Krupanidhi trying to vilify the student author is reprehensible. Such incidents will bring disgrace not only to the persons involved but also to the whole Indian scientific community in the international forum.

From sex clips to Murder...

http://in.news.yahoo.com/chennai-students-stabs-teacher-to-death.html

" Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu Guru Devo Maheshwara
Guru Sakshath Parambrahma Tasmai Shri Gurave Namaha"

It was equally shocking as awful as it was to learn that a IX standard student murdered his teacher. The teacher had made poor remarks in the progress report which apparently irked the student. This gruesome and heinous incident reminds me of the news we often hear about similar incidents in foreign countries.....students carrying pistols/knifes to schools. Few years ago, there was news on the sex experiments conducted in some school in Mumbai by IX standard students...then came the news on  mms clips from another school and now the schools have reached a different level with this incident...

It is not easy to decide who is culpable.. Is it unmonitored freedom the irascible adolescents get or the web access or  the pressure (torture) the parents put on them for results..or the over enthusiastic attitude of teachers (may not be true in the current case)..

Do these adolescents need psychology sessions on how to treat their parents or teachers...or Should security gadgets be installed at the gates to monitor what they carry..or Is it the time for parents and teachers to invent new methodologies to analyze their behavior...as usual I am confused...

Lets hope this would not trigger such unfortunate murders of teachers elsewhere......
