The Slap...

A slap on the face .......anger & diagreement....growing resentment on the political class....

Incidents like slapping, hurling eggs, shoes, sandals have been contagious and common across the borders of nations. We have freedom of speech & expression as enshrined in our constitution. Resentment pertaining to any issue can well be contained and expressed within the guidellines of law. But perpetrators chose not to be so.

Scams and price rise, deemed to be the prime reasons behind the recent slapping of a minister. The offender vowed to kill and alleged that all politicians are thieves. If we are on a wildspree to kill the representatives accused,  then the framework of our constitution and judiciary would be a utter failure.

Is it this growing intolerance we should be worrying about? or the means adopted to express it? or the isane opportunistic politics being played to raise the emotions of people? or the commercial oriented replays of the media which gives undue publicity to such incidents..

It is equally reprehensible and condemnable that the self proclaimed anti crusader's first reaction was ' ONLY ONE SLAP!!!..' . This might  be construed as an encouragement for such acts.

The other side of the argument: Why at all such things happen? Is it not the responsibility of the representative class to conduct themselves in a way which would appease/placate the nation.

where are we heading....what is my responsibility....Is there anything I can do to alleviate all these..high time to think......

Team Anna - Losing sheen

The resignation of two members from the core committee of Team Anna is a set back for the veracity of the objective of the anti graft movement. There have been hiccups in the team over the strategy adopted to achieve the goal and precipitated to result in the withdrawal of members.  The agenda of the recent campaign in UP seems to eye political gains. The self proclaimed anti graft crusaders must realize that an apolitical movement would make people of different sections of the country to participate voluntarily. Corruption which is basically a socio-economic weed is being portrayed as a political malady.  It is time to keep the spirit of the movement by educating the masses how not to resort to corruption knowingly or unknowingly. It is equally important for the members of Team Anna not to think of reaping political benefits by capitalizing the sense of the movement which would be detrimental and futile.

Telangana Strike Called off

The call off given by the employees unions in Telangana  is definitely a matter of intrigue for the common man. The strike, off late, had become the strike of only employees as the astute politicians kept themselves aloof from the field. The moot question is -  why the politicians could not capitalize the pulse of the agitation when it was in its peak stage. The effective curbing of the ‘Rail Roko’ by the government had debilitated the spirit of the agitation. Another point worth mentioning is that the  irascible students who played a pivotal role in raising the hysteria earlier kept distance from the strike.
If division of a state is a plausible solution to the current problems, then the credibility of the logic of division has to be established. In the larger interests of a diversified nation like India, it is essential to develop a standard methodology to carve out states independent of the derisive & opportunistic politics.
